I have already posted a review indicating I really liked the camera considering the 'cost' and what we are using it for, which is casual video capture. I was not expecting video of a prosumer camera and since there were low light issues with the Canon and Sony models we decided to get teh Zi8 until CES 2010 and we can look at some new models from the big 2.
I thought the worst thing about the camera was the somewhat weak audio capture of the built in mic (hey- it still works fine, just leaves a little to be desired and the external mic worked great with a basic Sony stereo mic) and the zoom was a bit jerky- like it was too fast and did not have slow start.
Low light was just OK with a mix of success- but I was just happy to get something usable. Normal might condition was fine- we captured Halloween with the kids and we are very happy with it.
But now the new firmware looks to address this (below)- I am going to update my camera this evening and will take it for a test drive in the next couple of days and repost again.
Anyone else that did the update can update their review.
